Midlands Branch Hybrid Meeting Speech intelligibility for autistic people in multi-speaker environments Wednesday 4 February 18:00 for an 18:30 start Room ...
Room CST312,STEAMhouse,Belmont Row, Birmingham,B4 7RQ
Summary:
Acoustics practice and standardisation have often prioritised 'normal' hearing, resulting in a gap in understanding regarding how environments are experienced by an aurally diverse population. With multi-speaker environments as a focus, this research explored speech intelligibility for autistic people and how it aligned with ISO 12913-2 soundscapes assessment metrics. The results are discussed within the context of what is already known about autistic listening, as well as the wider field of aural diversity.
Speaker Bio:
