The consultation includes noise ratings.
The current energy label displays noise emission in decibels (dB(A)).
There is currently no standardised classification system to help consumers compare models based on relative noise performance.
DESNZ are proposing to introduce a classification system from A-D, for noise, to be displayed on the energy label.
The new standards aim to improve the efficiency of models on the market.
The consultation aims to work towards a circular economy.
The consultation is open until August 14th.

A consultation is underway by the Department for Energy and Net Zero (DESNZ) on ecodesign standards for tumble dryers which includes noise ratings. The consultation recognises that "excessive noise emission can cause disruption especially in open-plan living spaces, apartments and small homes." The current energy label displays noise emission in decibels (dB(A)) expected from a household tumble dryer during a drying cycle. However, there is currently no standardised classification system to help consumers compare models based on relative noise performance. DESNZ are therefore proposing to introduce a classification system from A-D, for noise, to be displayed on the energy label. The new standards aim to improve the efficiency of models on the market, work towards a circular economy and ensure product standards are consistent with key trading partners, including new EU eco design and energy labelling regulations. The consultation is open until August 14th
