Central Branch, Eastern Branch, and Noise & Vibration Engineering Group Factory Tour

Joint Central Branch, Eastern Branch, and Noise & Vibration Engineering Group Event Factory Tour of Acoustical Control Engineers Ltd (In-Person Only)

Key summary

The factory tour is suitable for both "seasoned acousticians AND future engineers!"

Children aged 12+ are encouraged to attend the tour.

"Acoustical Control Engineers Ltd has been designing, manufacturing and installing a wide range of engineered solutions to many different acoustic problems for over 50 years."

The company's solutions include "acoustic enclosures, barriers, acoustically absorptive panels, rectangular splitter and circular attenuators, acoustic containers/ canopies, weather and acoustic louvres and various types of vibration isolators."

The tour covers how a range of noise and vibration control engineering products are "designed, manufactured and installed."

There are "25" spots available for the tour.

Perfect for seasoned acousticians AND future engineers!

Taking advantage of the summer holidays, we encourage members to bring their children (12+) for this unique factory tour experience. Whether you're deepening your professional knowledge or inspiring the next generation of engineers, this tour offers something for everyone - from real-world problem-solving insights to hands-on manufacturing processes that bring acoustic theory to life!

Please note, numbers are limited to 25, so please sign-up quickly to avoid missing out!

About the event:

An opportunity to see and understand how a range of noise and vibration control engineering products are designed, manufactured and installed.

Acoustical Control Engineers Ltd has been designing, manufacturing and installing a wide range of engineered solutions to many different acoustic problems for over 50 years.  The vast majority of these utilise products such as acoustic enclosures, barriers, acoustically absorptive panels, rectangular splitter and circular attenuators, acoustic containers/ canopies, weather and acoustic louvres and various types of vibration isolators.

Despite this apparently small product range, and even smaller range of key components i.e. sheet steel, perforated steel, mineral wool, scrim, and rolled steel; ACE has provided tens of thousands of unique engineered solutions over the decades.

Good solution design requires an understanding of:

  • The problem to be solved e.g. how much attenuation is required (which is usually fairly easy to establish) and what are the constraints such as airflow, access and maintenance requirements in addition to financial, spatial and aesthetic considerations (which are more challenging)?
  • What are the range of potential solutions e.g. acoustic louvres, attenuated louvres (which are very different), acoustic barrier, together with the strengths, weaknesses and limiting factors of each of these?
  • Which solution is most suitable for the Client’s specific requirements (different potential solutions may be the most suitable for different clients)?
  • How practicable is the proposed solution?

Identifying and achieving the best solution requires an understanding not only of the acoustic aspects but also of how the products are made and will be installed e.g. what sizes and configurations are most efficient and therefore least costly to manufacture, and what will the practical difficulties be for installation?
