The Scottish Government is consulting on updating regulations on school premises.

The current regulations were last published in 1967.

The aim is to create modern, high-quality learning environments.

Included is Acoustic Conditions Regulation 24.

Regulation 24 states "Every part of the school building shall have acoustic conditions and insulation against disturbance by noise appropriate to the use for which the part of the building is designed.”

The proposal includes a link to Building Bulletin 93: Acoustic design of schools - performance standards.

The consultation is open for comment.

The consultation closes on March 24th.

The Scottish Government are consulting on updating regulations on school premises – last published in 1967 - with the aim of creating modern, high quality learning environments. Included is Acoustic Conditions Regulation 24 which states ‘Every part of the school building shall have acoustic conditions and insulation against disturbance by noise appropriate to the use for which the part of the building is designed.’ It proposes including a link to Building Bulletin 93: Acoustic design of schools - performance standards.
